How
to Promote and Advertise Yourself as a Model
Promote yourself:
Make a resume, some business
cards and some comp cards (Composite
Cards). Mail
them to some nearby modeling agencies. Color business cards with your photo and information may cost
about $100 for 1000 cards.
Comp cards may cost about $350 for 1000 cards.
Remember that these tools do nothing if you don’t
distribute them correctly. Mail them to modeling agencies,
advertising companies, movie producers, publishers and
professional photographers. Your postal card can have two
pictures of you in two different poses. One headshot and one
full body shot are good combinations.
Advertise:
Modeling is an important part
of advertising industry. Models are needed to advertise a wide
variety of products and services. As a model, you need to be a
good advertiser. Start by advertising yourself. Get a website.
If you are not a professional designer, have someone else do
it for you. Make
your website a complete portfolio by including your best
pictures. Include your resume and more information about
yourself in your website. Make sure you write about all your
talents and abilities that can be combined with your talent as
a model. Include contact information of yourself, your agent
or whomever who will handle negotiations and bookings for you.
Stay with experts
As with any other profession,
experience is a key to success. Only work with experienced and
professionals.
